In nature, ECMs are extracellular molecules secreted by cells that provide structural and biochemical support to the surrounding cells. This biological “scaffolding” is known to play an important role in tissue re-growth and healing, so our scientists decided to create our own version to help breast cancer survivors.
Our analytical and biological scientists identified porcine mesothelial tissue as the starting material with the best handling and physical properties for the scaffold. To ready the mesothelium for clinical use it was treated with our proprietary OPTRIX? process - which gently disinfects tissues, inactivates viruses and removes cells while preserving the native ECM structure and components. The result? A 100%-natural, easy-to-handle surgical mesh for soft tissue repair that not only provides excellent strength, but also a biologically friendly scaffold.
