I’m currently working on...

北京快3线路 www.4w1e.cn Exploiting new ways to measure micronutrient factors and (bio)markers of wellbeing and health. The correct and comprehensive assessment of the nutritional status of humans and animals by analytical technologies is still a complex and lengthy task. Our research projects at DSM and our collaborations are allowing us to progress faster with laboratory-based procedures, as well as with the development of assays at the “point of need”. In the future, more technically advanced analytical devices will be ready  to help people receive instantaneous feedback on their nutritional status, allowing them to react immediately and adapt their behavior.

The aspect of my work that excites and inspires me the most is...

Going for the unexpected. Creativity, new ideas, and innovative solutions occur when different expertise, disciplines, opinions, or technologies meet. For me, connecting scientists from different areas, functions, and cultures is key, and truly  excites and motivates me. Analytical Sciences are close to my heart, and I’m passionate about technologies – especially emerging ones – and their concerted application for problem solving in Nutrition & Health. Looking at a healthy and secure nutrition, the challenges of today – and those of the future – offer many opportunities for new Bright Science and business solutions.

The breakthrough I would most like to see made in my field is...

The miniaturization of many of our sophisticated analytical technologies, while still delivering the same sensitivity, selectivity, resolution, and more. I’d also hope for an increase in sustainability, in terms of lower energy, solvent, and chemical consumption. Another big jump I’d like to see is improved automation when it comes to cumbersome sample preparation. Last, but not least, we’re still missing appropriate and easy-to-use knowledge-sharing technology to allow us to combine and integrate different data and information from a vast variety of analytical technologies.
